Pacquiao and His Desire to Enter Politics on Election 2010

Manny Pacquiao, has indeed reached one of the greatest achievements anyone can ever have and even wish for. Having a strong and intact family blessed by beautiful and lovely children with supportive fans and friends, an overflowing success in career, and most importantly, a strong relationship with God, he almost have it all. However, I know there’s something lacking in spite all these stuffs even all these make him always on top.

He tried to push himself on politics, and he got unlucky when he did not make it during the last election. He wants to serve the country and most of all, his very own hometown, General Santos City and he expressed all these desires to run for politics specifically in the congress when he had his interview on CNN few days before the big fight with Hatton -the Hitman.

When I heard and watched the interview, I felt his sincerity over his good intention and I can sense that he might be able to make it this coming election. Well, though, politics may sounds as if it is not for Pacman, but why not give him a chance. I guess, with all his influential capabilities along with his willingness and availability, there’s a possibility that he can really do more and he can prove it once he is there. Again, I can see him as a man of actions rather than a man of words so I had a confidence that he can offer something different.

Right now, we don’t know the people we can trust and the upcoming election is most likely a matter of choosing the lesser evil among the many evil candidates. Well, I don’t think he will be like one of the officials we have right now. Surely, he is not after the money he can get in the country. With all the wealth he has right now, considering that he is one of the highest paid fighters in the country, I don’t think he will be after his own gain. So I think Manny can make a difference, and again, that will set him apart from the others.

Being able to enter the gates to the road of politics is the go signal I can see Pacman is waiting, for him, to resign in boxing.  And for sure, it will be a different and not an easy road for him. He has to learn the language of politics which is far more different from the world of boxing. But I know Pacman is a fighter and he is never a quitter. So I wish him luck. I hope he can make it this time.

Let him be. After all, Manny’s of legal and rightly within his constitutional right to seek public office, and for sure, after his first try, he already knows what he is going in to. He knows how to get up from where he fell. Besides these, he is equipped financially to run his campaign; he has a name recall advantage; he has no qualms about people touting his grammar and diction; he looks sincere enough as to gamble again his hard-earned resources in the political ring’s risky business. Whatever his motivations are, that we will know while election nears, as candidates become subject to the public microscope. I don’t think Manny is dumb as some people would like to believe. It’s just that he wasn’t privileged to be schooled properly like those who claim to speak better were, but he is willing to learn. He had enrolled himself that he may get formal education. He professionally displayed his boxing prowess by learning too well from mentor Roach. He is keen in marketing himself by endless repackaging: from boxer, to product endorser, to singer, to band member, to sportsman other than boxing, to movie actor, to tv show host…(not necessarily in that order)… then back to boxing, and now as a politician. Now, not every politician of the Filipino kind had done that. Not all politicians will stake mind, body and spirit in full view of the world for love of Motherland and the Filipino race. May he remain humble, win or lose, in the political arena.
